Hurst Stake Employment 2 day workshop

This week Sister Nelson and I went back to our roots in teaching. We taught a 2 day Employment Career Workshop in the Hurst Texas Stake
The Stake Center had a pipe organ that Sister Nelson played and made sound so wonderful
She is a natural in front of an audience. Her section especially on career exploration is just excellent.
It took a allot of preparation to get that much material together.
The Stake Employment specialist in that stake is Brother Mark Van Cott. He spent much time and effort in getting the word out. There were 52 that attended the workshop.
He kept all the snacks coming and the room cool for all of us.
It was a ten hour event over 2 days that cover a variety of topics such as resume writing, interviewing, networking, career exploration, how to use the web site effectively. Other topics

Networking with other professionals. Meeting employers and executive recruiters. Learning additional job search techniques. Practicing skills taught in the Career Workshop.

Staying motivated throughout your job search. Resources Available at the employment center. Why these were established and why you need a place for you to conduct your job search. Senior missionaries serve as employment advisers, as well as professional paid staff, can assist you through one-on-one coaching, networking leads, and resource information. Additionally, you can have access to the Internet, computers, telephones, and fax and copy machines that can be used for job search purposes.

It was an experience for us!
