Corsicana-Waxahachie

The town of Corsicana is just beautiful this time of year.

The Collins Street Bakery home of the most famous Fruit Cake in the country. They have been shipping them since 1896. Sister Nelson commented that I looked very much at home here.
The Ellis Court House is something to see. It follows the Romanesque architecture style. The court house has been used for the backdrop in many movies and commercials

Main Street Waxshachie pronounced Walks-a-hatchie

The Navarro County Court House, part of the walking tour of downtown Corsicana Tx.

Lefty Frizzell was born here in Corsicana March 31, 1928.
His Western Suits were very flashy

A nice rest as part of the walking tour.
The Navarro Chamber of Commerce named their walking tour "Roughnecks and White Elephants" Oil was first discovered in Texas in Navarro County.

I always enjoyed his version of "If you got the Money Honey"

Among the memorabilia displayed is his original manuscripts, western suits, boots, records, posters, and the house reminiscent of where lefty was born.

The Ellis County Court House is amazing architecture. I thought one of the gargoyles may fly off.

Just an amazing building, it is still in use. Also on the first floor remains a bullet hole in the door on which was formerly the sheriff's office. The hole was put there during a gun fight in the 1920's which left a deputy wounded and one man dead.

The Navarro County County had bells that chimed on the hour. Classical revival style

Texas is a very patriotic place.

Much information about Sam Houston and Stephen Austin

I LOVE those court houses - why don't they build buildings like that anymore. It looks you are starting to see some green, I am excited for you I know it makes my insides feel better when the outside feels good. Love ya and miss ya.
